Mission Teams - A Decentralised Leadership Structure
All leadership and initiative for stuff that happens at Cafe Church come not from a governing committee, but from the Mission Teams.
Mission Teams focus on particular projects or events. They are the flexible, movable, have permeable ‘edges’. They can meet in any way: via phone, email, face to face. They can meet as often as they choose. They can be as small or as large as they want.
To form a new team:
- If you have a passion/idea that links to one of the mission priorities, and;
- you can find at least one other person to work with you
then you can just start as a Mission Team! Inform The Waiters (main co-ordinating Team of Cafe Church) that you've started! *
The only requirements of a mission team are:
- We know where they fit in to the big picture. Ie there is an explicit link with at least one of our mission priorities
- A coordinator (or contact point at minimum)
- A written report is sent to The Waiters meetings. It could be “Nothing to report”
Joining Mission Teams:
These are very easy to join - just contact the co-ordinator of the Team you want to join and start coming to meetings.
Anyone can ask to be part of a team. Team members can invite people to join. They should also be easy to leave…
