Answers to frequently asked questions about hall bookings are below.

What is the seating capacity of the hall?
The Cafe Church hall contains a mixture of chairs and couches which seat approximately 75-80 people. There is room to seat around 100 people if you would like to bring extra chairs for your event.

Are there kitchen facilities?
There is a kitchen adjacent to the hall with tea and coffee making facilities, a stove, an oven, a microwave and plenty of cutlery and crockery. Hall hirers are required to bring their own tea and coffee etc.

When is the hall available for bookings?
The hall is available from 8:30am to midnight, Monday to Saturday, except for Thursday nights when we host the live acoustic venue Colbourne Ave.

Sundays are normally reserved for church use but occasional bookings may be possible.

What does it cost to hire the hall?
Cafe Church hall hire fees vary depending on the day, time and type of booking. You can book per hour or receive a discount if you book a ‘whole period’ from 8:30am–5:30pm or from 5:30pm-midnight. There is also a $200 bond.

Note - Our hall hire fees have increased, effective 31 July 2013. The fees shown below are the new increased rates.

 Do I need Public Liability Insurance?
Yes – all events require Public Liability Insurance. If you don’t have your own PLI, Cafe Church can provide it through the Uniting Church in Australia for $6​0 per event.

What kinds of events can I use the hall for?
Users hire the hall for many kinds of events, including concerts, classes, workshops, conferences and rehearsals. However, we don’t allow hire for parties. 

Can I serve alcohol?
Alcohol must be BYO only. 

Is there a piano?
The Cafe Church hall includes a regularly tuned grand piano in excellent condition which can be used for no extra cost.

Is there a PA system?
The Cafe Church space does not include a PA system. Hall hirers are welcome to use a vocal PA system within reasonable limits, with respect to the comfort of the church’s neighbours. (Noise complaints can result in loss of $200 bond.)

Is there lighting equipment available?
There is no stage lighting equipment available.
