Don't Ask. Don't Tell.
Why religion has become a taboo topic in our society.
Why are two of the most interesting topics for discussion - religion and politics - so consciously avoided in this country?
Does refraining from talking about religion give us more freedom to explore different faiths and no faith? Does that freedom allow us to profess our faith with heightened conviction?
How should schools approach religion?
At the last "They Didn't Mention God in the Guidebook" night, people shared about their experiences of spirituality abroad - particularly in countries where religion is an integral and unmissable part of culture. That got us to talking about Australia and the role of religion here. Some people said their faith journeys had benefited from the freedom they had to avoid religion altogether at times, others questioned why there is so little acknowledgement for the great work done by christian charities like the Salvos. Carmen had some interesting reflections about seeing Australia's approach to religion through a new Australian's eyes - and finding it a bit baffling!
This Sunday, we'll be discussing the questions that came up that night as kick off a series around how/whether to share faith in a society where there is so little religious dialogue. Liz will be facilitating -bring your opinions!
Doors open at 6.00pm for 6.15 start.
